Serving Solar Panel Installations Across Queensland
Solar Panels Mackay
Solar panels in Mackay QLD demand weatherproofing to standards that other areas frankly don’t. As a town within the Cyclonic Wind region, both the solar PV modules and the mounting to support them need to withstand the elements: heavy wind loads (moving and static), storm tossed debris, salt mist, and even hail. Our solar panel installers in Mackay design, supply and install solar PV systems that meet these requirements, for long-lasting solar rooftops you don’t have to worry about.
Solar Panels Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast is a great place to save on energy bills with solar. Our solar panel installations on the Sunshine Coast cover a complete service: advice, design, supply, installation, and aftercare. This care extends to the solar panels in the Sunshine Coast we offer. While not in the cyclone-prone region, storms that do hit the Sunshine Coast move in further and harder, from growing climate change. It means more potential damage to your solar rooftop if they do strike. The solar panels in Sunshine Coast are installed in the same durable way that we do for Mackay. Our solar panels are also well selected for the Sunshine Coast’s close proximity to water, with pv systems that are certified protection against salt mist corrosion.

Did You Know?
Queensland is leading the nation in residential and commercial solar PV rooftop installations.
Queensland was the first state in Australia that adopted a residential grid-connected rooftop solar system. In Peter Fries’ home in Mt Coolum, Queensland, in 1994. At least, it was the first document installation.
And in more recent news, the Climate Energy Council reports in 2024 that Queensland has the largest share of rooftop solar with 50.2% of our state already adopting solar.
In fact, Queensland’s solar rooftops represent 30% of Australia’s solar production.
But we can’t stop our momentum yet. We’re proud to be one of the top solar companies in Queensland helping support this transition to sustainable solar energy in Queensland. Together we’re working towards a more sustainable, cleaner future.
Are Solar Panels Worth It In 2025 for Queensland Homes?
From all the Queensland residents and businesses we’ve installed solar modules for, we’d say it is a resounding yes!
With all our sunshine, Queenslanders get a lot out of our solar pv systems. With how much our state dominates in solar rooftops, that’s no surprise or secret either.
Some reasons you might be considering a solar installation, may be:
- You’ve got a modern house with a roof that isn’t usually shaded by trees
- You or your household members often stay in the home during the day
- You rely on a lot on heavy energy users (like air conditioning during the summer)
- Energy bills are going up and you’re tired of it
The average payback period for solar panels is also short. Engie reports this to be around 5 years.
How much does solar panel installation cost in Queensland?
Costs will vary depending on the watt capacity, brand and model of the solar panels, added components, complexity of work done, and what other solar installers choose to charge to increase their margin.
Our solar system packages are currently priced in three tiers: Basic, Medium and Large.
Basic6.58kW solar system |
Medium10.34kW Solar System |
Large13kW Solar System |
|
$7,490 (or $19.12 a week)* |
$12,990 (or $33.17 a week)* |
$14,990 (or $38.30 a week)* |
Your postcode location (STC zone rating) can also bring down the upfront price of a solar panel installation in Queensland.
*Prices listed are for an Aiko Solar Panel and Sungrow Inverter system. Prices vary depending on brand and model of solar components (solar panels and solar inverters). Extra charges may apply for some location to cover extra travel and fuel.

How to Choose the Right Solar Installer in Queensland
When investing in solar, choosing the right installer is just as important as selecting quality panels. To qualify for government rebates and ensure a safe, long-lasting installation, your system must be designed and installed by an SAA accredited solar installer. Since 2024, accreditation has been managed by Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA)—replacing the Clean Energy Council (CEC) in this role.
At Snap Solar, we don’t outsource our work. Our installations are carried out directly by our own team of SAA accredited solar installers, giving you complete confidence that the people on your roof are fully trained, qualified, and accountable. We also use only CEC-approved solar panels and inverters, ensuring your system is built with products tested for Australian conditions and eligible for solar rebates.
Look for these Professional Certifications and Accreditations
SAA Accredited Installer (Essential Requirement)
Your installer must be SAA (Solar Accreditation Australia) accredited to qualify for the solar rebate. SAA accreditation replaced the previous CEC installer accreditation system in 2024. SAA accredited installers have completed comprehensive training in solar installation standards, safety protocols, and Australian electrical requirements. This individual qualification ensures your installer is recognised by the Clean Energy Regulator.
You can verify an installer’s SAA accreditation by checking the official SAA accredited installers list, which contains over 8,000 qualified installers across Australia.
NETCC Approved Seller (Additional Consumer Protection)
While not mandatory for rebate eligibility, choosing an NETCC (New Energy Tech Consumer Code) approved seller provides additional consumer protection. NETCC approved sellers adhere to a voluntary industry code developed by key energy bodies and consumer groups. The cornerstone of this code is the agreement to honor all solar panel warranties and maintain high standards of customer service.
Key differences between SAA and NETCC accreditation:
- SAA accreditation is mandatory for rebate eligibility, NETCC approval is voluntary
- SAA is an individual installer qualification, NETCC is a company-wide certification
- SAA focuses on technical competency, NETCC emphasises consumer protection practices

Snap Solar…the Best Solar Panel Installer in Queensland 2025?
We’ve got enough reasons to say with confidence that we’re one of the most trusted solar panel installers in Queensland. In 2025, we’re continuing to set the standard with a fully in-house team of SAA accredited solar installers. Unlike many companies that rely on subcontractors, our solar company Snap Solar handles every stage of the process ourselves; from system design and installation to aftercare and support. That means better quality control, higher safety standards, and the reassurance that your system is installed by professionals who stand behind their work.
We also make it a point to partner with our customers. Evaluate your energy bills and pair it with a solar solution, within your budget, that will best lower your power costs. Keep you abreast of changes from Government solar incentives, energy retailers, or clean energy news that most affect you. And lastly, we explain what everything means in plain language and help break down all the solar jargon. So you really understand what’s happening, and what you’re getting.
We pair this expertise with CEC-approved, high-efficiency solar modules from leading brands like AIKO, REC, and Tongwei – and with tough mounting systems that withstand heavy-wind conditions for solar panel installations that stay and last long on your rooftop.
What to Expect from a Quality Solar Installation Process
Comprehensive Site Assessment
A professional installer will conduct a detailed evaluation of your property, including roof condition, shading analysis, electrical infrastructure, and energy usage patterns. This assessment forms the foundation for a customised system design that maximises your solar energy production.
CEC Approved Components Only
Ensure your installer only uses components from the Clean Energy Council’s approved product lists. This includes both solar panels and inverters. Don’t assume that “Tier 1” panels are automatically CEC approved – always verify components appear on the official approved lists.
Transparent Pricing and Warranties
Quality installers provide detailed quotes that break down all costs, including equipment, installation, permits, and any additional services. They should offer comprehensive warranties covering both equipment and installation workmanship, with NETCC approved sellers committed to honoring all manufacturer warranties.
Post-Installation Support
Choose an installer who provides ongoing support after your system is commissioned. This includes system monitoring guidance, maintenance advice, and prompt response to any issues that may arise.

Tier-1 Solar Panels Queensland
Do I need to get a Tier-1 Solar Panel to get the ‘best’ system?
Let’s clear up a common misconception here. People search up ‘Tier 1 Solar Panels’ a lot, but the truth is there are no ‘Tier 1 Solar Panels.’
What there is, are Tier 1 solar panel manufacturers.
Independent PV industry and testing agencies put together Tier 1, 2 & 3 lists every year. The biggest and most referenced is BloombergNEF (BNEF), another is ‘Tier 1 Cleantech Companies’ released by S&P Global.
The rating does not qualify the technical quality of the solar panels themselves, but how bankable and financially stable the manufacturers are. BloombergNEF says in their own report: “we strongly recommend that module purchasers and banks do not use the list as a measure of quality,”in their July 5, 2025 report (Section 2.2).
However, it does mean the solar panel manufacturer whose product you buy are much more likely to stick around for the long term to be able to honour any warranties and get manufacturer support. All of the premium solar brands in Australia we offer at Snap Solar; Aiko, Rec and Tongwei (TW), are Tier-1 solar manufacturers, so you can count on this assurance. Some of the premium solar brands available in Australia.
Explained: Advanced Tech Features & Their Benefits
N-Type vs P-Type Solar Panels
One of the biggest advancements in solar technology is the shift from P-Type to N-Type panels. While P-Type panels have been the standard for decades, they are more prone to light-induced degradation, which reduces efficiency over time. N-Type panels are designed to resist this degradation, deliver higher efficiency, and perform more reliably in hot, sunny conditions—making them a smarter long-term investment.
At Snap Solar, we only install N-Type panels from trusted brands like Aiko, REC, and Tongwei. This means every system we deliver comes with the latest technology, ensuring customers benefit from better performance and durability for years to come.
High-Efficiency Solar Modules
Modern high-efficiency solar modules represent the latest advancement in photovoltaic technology, converting more sunlight into electricity within smaller footprint installations. These premium panels typically achieve efficiency ratings above 20%, significantly outperforming standard panels and maximising energy production from available roof space.
High-efficiency solar modules feature advanced cell technologies, improved light capture capabilities, and enhanced performance in various weather conditions. While representing a higher initial investment, these modules often provide superior long-term value through increased energy production, reduced installation complexity, and better warranty coverage. Our professional solar panel installers in Queensland can help determine whether high-efficiency modules align with your specific energy needs and budget considerations.
Bifacial Solar Technology
What is bifacial? It’s a pv module with two sides. Therefore, unlike traditional panels that absorb sunlight only from the front, bifacial panels generate power on both sides. The rear surface captures reflected light from roofs, ground surfaces, or surrounding structures. This technology boosts energy yield, particularly in early mornings, late afternoons, and cloudy conditions, and makes your solar system more efficient overall.
Snap Solar’s range includes bifacial models like the Aiko Neostar 2s, REC Alpha Pure-R, and Tongwei Full Black 440W Dual Glass. Helping you unlock more energy output through less solar panels from the same roof space.
Mounting and Racking for Storm-Prone Weather Conditions
Solar panels are only as reliable as the structure that secures them. In areas prone to strong winds and storms, a robust racking system is essential to protect your investment. High-quality mounting not only ensures safety and stability but also maintains the system’s efficiency and sleek look over time.
That’s why Snap Solar uses the Clenergy Hollywood roof mounting system on all installations. This system is cyclone-rated to withstand wind gusts up to 285 km/h, built with marine-grade aluminium for long-lasting durability, and designed for seamless integration across tile, tin, and flat roofs. By combining premium panels with industry-leading racking, Snap Solar ensures your system is built to perform in Australia’s harshest conditions.
Solar System Inspections
Not sure if the solar panel system installed on your rooftop is still working?
We offer solar rooftop inspections, alongside maintenance and repairs. If your solar panels have reached their end of life, we can talk about new PV modules or a new solar system installation in Queensland with the latest developments of today’s solar technology.

Your Upfront Savings Based on Where You Live from the STC Scheme
Where you’re placed and how big of a system you get (in watt capacity) can also help lower the upfront cost to install new solar products like solar PV modules. Small-scale technology certificates, or STCs for short, are awarded in specific amounts based on 4 types of ‘location zones’ the Clean Energy Regulator has delegated based on forecasted sunshine.
- Mackay is in Zone 2 (1.536 rating)
- The Sunshine Coast is in Zone 3 (1.382 rating)
| STCs are also awarded based on system size and how far away (or close) the year of the installation is to the deeming period. The ‘year deadline’ energy renewable target, called the ‘deeming period’ in the clean energy industry. |
