We put off solar for a long time due to our average experiences elsewhere. Brady helped us move forward with his depth of knowledge and competency and helped us understand the ins and outs of solar and what worked best for us easily. Brady gave all the time needed without hesitation to help us make the best decision for our home and was always available to respond to our queries and concerns. Brady and the boys did a great job looking after us. It was a stinking hot day to install panels on the roof and they nailed it! Do You Still Pay an Electricity Bill With Solar Panels?
You may still receive a reduced electricity bill, depending on your solar system size and energy requirements. You can invest in batteries which can help to store more electricity so you don’t pay electricity.
If you produce more electricity than you need, it gets exported back into the energy grid and you can be paid a feed-in tariff by the energy company for selling the excess back.
What is a Feed-in Tariff?
A feed-in-tariff is the amount your electricity retailer pays you for any electricity your solar system generates that you don’t use and is fed back into the grid. Feed-in tariffs differ depending on where you live.
Do Solar Panels Work at Night or During Cloudy Weather?
Solar panels do not generate power at night. Once the sun goes down, your home or business will start to draw power from the main grid as usual. Solar panels will still work on cloudy days but will not generate as much electricity as when the weather is clear and sunny.
Is it Possible to Expand The Size of my System in the Future?
This is determined by the size of the inverter and the amount of space available on your roof. You could expand the size of your system if you have enough roof space and more inverter capacity.
You could also install a second system on your roof.
Do Solar Panels Work During a Blackout?
Your solar panel system will shut down if it is connected to the grid. This is to ensure that emergency responders and energy utility workers are not injured as a result of your panels returning power to the grid. However, when used in conjunction with a battery, certain inverters can offer backup power in the event of a blackout.
How Long Does an Installation Take?
Without knowing the size of the solar power system, it’s difficult to estimate the average installation time. The larger the system, the longer it takes to install. As an example, a 5KW system takes about 3-5 hours from start to finish.
Are Solar Batteries Worth it?
Yes, batteries pay for themselves and can reduce or eliminate electricity bills, solar batteries also have other benefits which include gaining energy independence and protection against blackouts.
